Rihanna is reportedly in the running to play Whitney Houston in a film about her life.
Clive Davis is said to be planning the biopic as a tribute to his late friend and protégée, and executives have created a shortlist of names they are considering for the role.
Jennifer Hudson, who performed a tribute to Houston at the Grammys, "Independence Day" star Vivica A Fox and Brandy - sister of Houston's boyfriend Ray J - are also being considered.
Jordin Sparks, who co-stars in Houston's final film "Sparkle", has made the shortlist as well, while Will Smith's 11-year-old daughter Willow Smith is being lined up to play Whitney as a child.
The project had been discussed before Houston was found dead in the bathtub of her Beverly Hilton Hotel suite and Whitney was excited about the project!
"Clive wants to get the script done and start filming as soon as possible. Whitney knew about the project and was excited to see where it would lead," a source told "The People".
"It's hoped the biopic will be as successful as Tina Turner movie "What's Love Got To Do With It", which landed two Oscar nominations for Angela Bassett and Laurence Fishburne."
Brandy has expressed an interest in playing Houston in the past, saying: "My dream role would be to play Whitney Houston. I would love to play Ms Whitney. I have her personality down pat, her "isms" down pat. Nobody can play Whitney like me."
On the other hand, Rihanna previously turned down an offer to star in a remake of Houston's most iconic film
"The Bodyguard". She told "OK! magazine": "I hate it when singers do singing movies all the time, because you can never look at them as anybody else. I want to play a character. My whole life is playing Rihanna; being a singer won't be a stretch for me."
A source told the "People newspaper": "Whitney knew about the project and was excited to see where it would lead."
